Automatic Route Selection
The Automatic Route Selection (ARS) feature is an intelligent call routing mechanism designed for multi-carrier environments to use the most cost-optimised route depending upon the call destination, and to select an alternative path when the most optimised route is overloaded.
ARS is fully transparent to the user; the system automatically takes care of selecting the appropriate trunk line, and dropping/adding the necessary digits (prefix) to reach the right carrier without requiring the user to change his dialling habits.
User Benefits
• Users can make calls over the cost-optimised carrier without dialling carrier codes.
• Provides greater security. By registering the PIN (Personal Identification Number) to the ARS, end-users can make CO calls without knowing itemised codes or authorisation codes, which helps to assure security.
Major Features
• ARS is available on any type of extension terminal (System Telephone/Single Line Telephone/ISDN Extension), and any type of call (voice/data).
• ARS is invoked in all dialling modes (manual dialling, redial, one-touch dialling, station/system speed dialling, and call back for the call log).
• ARS also works when call forwarding to outside lines.
• Available for any type of line (analogue trunk/digital trunk).
Flexibility
• If users do not want to use ARS, it can be temporarily disabled for each call by specifying a trunk group when making the call.
• ARS can automatically choose an alternative route when the most appropriate is unavailable in accordance with the pre-assigned priority.
